Say No to Universal School Vouchers.

School Vouchers will not only hurt the public schools of Georgia, it will hurt most of all rural public schools. It will take away money that is needed to keep rural schools competitive with other schools that are prospering. Let's face it, the kids who families that can afford to send their kids to private schools will jump at it, leaving the poor, disadvantage kids behind. Plus private schools will not accept every child that wants to enroll into one of their schools, they can pick & choose which kids are accepted. Now public schools in the suburbs like Gwinnett County for example won't be affected because they get almost half of the money already alloted for their school systems, but public schools like Randolph-Clay down in SW Georgia, or Jeff Davis down over in Hazelhurst will be affected because parents don't have the type of jobs neccessary to pay for tuition that will cost $5,000 to $10,000 per child. The bill proposed by State Sen. Eric Johnson a savannah republican is a way to (1) Kill the public school system & (2) to get attention for his 2010 Lt. Gov. race. I call on all legislators to vote against this bill, especially rural republicans. If this bill passes, it will be a liability for any legislator in 2010, especially rural republicans.
